I had the opportunity to go camping with my cousin Angela earlier this week at Ledges State Park (more on that later). I was very pleased to identify some wonderful flowers I've known about but hadn't seen in person yet. Some great prairie staples!
Wild Bergamot, Prairie Blazing Star, and perhaps one of the coolest named--Rattlesnake Master.

Wild Bergamot, Monarda fistulosa |

Prairie Blazing Star, Liatris pycnostachya |
|
Rattlesnake Master, Eryngium yuccifolium |
Not to mention, some Partridge Pea sightings, looking wonderfully bright and thriving in a prairie environment. (Less scraggly than the ones growing on the roadside.)

Partridge Pea, Chamaecrista fasciculata |
