Omaha's Henry Doorly Zoo & Aquarium

Some friends of mine invited us to meet up at the zoo in Omaha yesterday. I can't think that I ever would have thought to go on my own unless someone had asked me, but I'm glad we went. Even though we had to park in the farthest away parking lot because it was so busy. I didn't really mind because it was a mild day yesterday. Sunny but not sweltering.

My favorite part was Lied Jungle. It's one large room with two levels of pathways through a fake jungle. You can see pygmy hippos, turtles, monkeys, birds, fish, and many other types of creatures. My favorite animal there was the warty pig (mostly because of its name):

Vasayan warty pig rooting around for food.
Inside the Suzanne and Walter Scott Aquarium, these jellyfish were fascinating. They are so delicate and graceful. It's hard to believe they are real.

This gorilla and I had a moment:

This lone polar bear enjoyed a fish:

The Desert Dome was pretty cool (hot?). There were several free roaming (flying) birds, including this one. I don't know what it was, but I like its long legs:

All in all, it was a good visit. I enjoyed seeing my friends. There were many species of animal that were fascinating to watch. I would have liked if there had been moose or grizzly bears or salmon in the aquarium, but I suppose those aren't exotic enough. :-)
