Kornelia's Pantry Shower
The invitations that I designed. |
My younger brother Grant is marrying the lovely Kornelia later this month. Some friends and I threw her a bridal shower with a "stock the pantry" theme. Instead of usual gifts, we asked the guests to bring non-perishable food items.
I meant to take photos of everything at the shower, but in the excitement of the event, I forgot to take them except for these last minute pics.
Because of the timing of the event, we served dinner. The three hosts plus my mom made two soups, rolls, cornbread, and salad.

I made cupcakes:
I only remembered to photograph them after there were only a few left. I used this recipe for Almond Wedding Cake Cupcakes. I filled them with triple berry preserves. I decided to do the frosting in two colors. (Light blue is one of the wedding colors so we did most of our decorations that color.) The almond flavor is deliciously prominent in these. I used these cool parchment paper tulip cups.
We played a word scramble game and a purse game (where you get points for having certain things in your purse) and gave out these brownie mix jars as prizes. (My brownie recipe, loaded with chocolate chips.)
The shower took place at Grant and Kornelia's church. The church has a whole room full of decorations like vases, fake flowers, and mason jars for people to use. The other two hosts came up with our centerpieces using items from that room. They also put together the votive candles with a Bible verse attached for the party favors.
Then it was time for Kornelia to open the gifts:

It was fun to see what kinds of things people brought!
