Yesterday evening was the second Hitch Hike of the summer. (To read about the event on the Pott County website, click
here.) We hiked on Badger Ridge Trail, probably a little over a mile overall.
It was a warm, humid day, and the mosquitoes were out, but luckily it was also quite windy so most of the time it wasn't too bad. Jonathan and I met up with Kali, who had already been hiking with the newly formed hiking club. Kali and I both have an interest in native plants and had our eyes on the ground looking for anything blooming. The hail we've had recently had really beaten up some of the flowers, but we still managed to find quit a few:

We saw others like locoweed and the praries rose, and more that aren't ready to bloom such as lead plant, compass plant, and various asters. We also found wild raspberries that weren't quite ready to eat.
It was a good hike and a great introduction to the trail. Bonus Eastern Bluebird that I spotted from the deck of the nature center:
