Return to Botna Bend
After coffee this morning, I went walking at Botna Bend to see what's growing. I walked through the native grasses area and did not find any new flowers (no surprise there), but lots and lots of dry stems. For the most part, the only green was the new grass.
While I was on the trail, a white tailed deer and I spotted each other. We stared at each other through the trees for awhile, and then she took off.
These are the remains of a cup plant by the river. Some of these stand around eight feet tall.
I spotted some Canada geese. The one above stood still, watching me watch it, then swam away.
I always stop by and say hello to the elk that live in the park. The one in the middle of the photo above was running and jumping around (click the photo to enlarge).
And the big guy has some new headgear. The antlers are covered in a fuzzy velvet.
Shaggy coat.
I'll have to make sure I visit Botna Bend every week to watch the changes! I expect to see much more green very soon.
