Dinner at Kitchen Table in Omaha
We've lived here in the vicinity of Omaha for over nine months but we are just now finding things to do and places to go there. One of us ends up there every couple of weeks but only recently have we discovered places we really like.
Yesterday we went to Kitchen Table for the first time--a restaurant that serves locally sourced, made from scratch food. They have daily specials which can be found online (with meat and veggie versions).
We ordered these made to order sodas. Jonathan's was vanilla with real vanilla beans floating around in it, and mine was a strong but sweet ginger ale. They were tasty but I especially liked that it's not the sort of thing you'd have every day.
We both had the dinner special--a burger. There was a choice of a beef or three-bean burger. We chose the three bean, which was topped with pepper jelly, local feta, on a brioche bun. The side is an arugula pesto pasta salad. This was a very good burger, moist, a nice texture, and flavorful. It fell apart a little bit but I don't count that against it at all (that's what forks are for). The pesto pasta was good but not nearly as exciting as the burger.
I really hope we go back again, because they have a soup night, a taco night, a pizza night, and a pasta night in addition to burger night. From what I've seen online of the past specials, they are all very good. For example, this weeks vegetarian taco is potato, lentil, and feta in house-made corn tortillas with red chile salsa and salsa seca. Doesn't that sound interesting? I'd love to try it but I know I won't be going back that soon. I'll definitely be keeping track of their menus online to see what's coming up in future weeks.

ReplyDeleteI was really good. I wish I could have tried everything on the menu all at once. Guess I'll have to keep going back!
