Autumn Vacation, Part 4
La Crosse, Wisconsin
We went back to Viroqua after the museum and Charles napped in the car. We did not see much of La Cross (except, you know, all of it from above), but we enjoyed the little side trip.
La Crosse, the Mississippi, and Minnesota |
One of the days we were staying in Viroqua, we thought we'd drive over to La Crosse. I am usually the main planner of our trips, and I usually do next to no actual research... I figure I can just look up stuff on my cell phone as I go. This method has mixed results. 😂 I chose La Crosse from looking at the map and seeing it was there. Hahaha! First thing when we got to town was to drive up to the little park on top of Grandad Bluff, 590 feet above the city. From there, La Crosse looks like a miniature city. A train going by looks like a model train at the county fair.
Our other stop (besides lunch) was at the Children's Museum. There were so many fun things, Charles had a hard time deciding what to do. Some of his favorites were sending toy boats down the stream in the water table, watching scarves fly out of pneumatic tubes, and pushing around a toy grocery cart. It's not cheap, but after this experience, I'm sold on Children's Museums for kids Charles' age (2.5).
