Autumn Vacation, Part 2
Our Cabin Stay
(If you're curious about the composting toilet, this type flushes everything away so you're not seeing or smelling anything. It's practically a regular toilet.)
The cabin was equipped with dishes, pots and pans, a mini fridge, and a single burner butane stove. We kept our meals at the cabin simple with groceries we brought from home or bought at the co-op in Viroqua. Other meals we ate at restaurants.

This is the wonderful cabin we found on AirBnB! It's small. Or should I say "just right"? One main living/sleeping area, kitchen area, bathroom, and two lofts. It runs on solar power and has a composting toilet. The water comes from the main house on the property (I think) and runs up to the cabin in a hose. We had separate water for drinking, but otherwise the water was good for all the usual comforts and conveniences of home (a propane water heater provided warm water). We loved that not only were we staying in a secluded cabin, but that is was also ecologically friendly.

Lunch outside, that view! |
When at the cabin, we spent a lot of time reading. Sometimes napping. Sometimes drawing! Charles got really into drawing. I drew a few drawings for Inktober, but did not keep up with it everyday. I may write a post about the books I read and some other books I've read recently! Some of them are definitely share-worthy.

The property includes almost two miles of trails right outside the cabin, and a separate little park down the road. We didn't hike a lot, but we did go down and check out the streams. Charles enjoyed throwing sticks into the water.

It was really fun to live minimally in a small space for awhile!
