Final Coffee Group

Two weeks from today we will be moving into our new parsonage in Cedar Rapids. We should probably be packing, but today we decided to host our coffee group in our home for the final time.

You can see the china cabinet is empty. I've packed almost all of my serving dishes, so my fancy trifle was presented in this lovely storage container:

The trifle is made with layers of white chocolate pudding (instant Jello brand), pound cake (homemade), sour cherry pie filling from last year's cherries (cleaning out my freezer), and whipped cream. It's the same that I made for the BYKOTA salad supper, which I didn't post about on the blog. And actually, maybe I shouldn't tell you this, but the pound cake was the half I didn't use for that trifle. Hehe. Like I said, cleaning out the freezer!

And we're using Christmas napkins because my other paper napkins and cloth napkins are packed away!

And because it was the last time we hosted coffee group, we expected a larger crowd, so we set up a bonus table, with mismatched dishes, because that's what we've got!

Also served were the lemon rosemary cookies I posted about yesterday, and an egg and cheese casserole with spinach and broccoli from our Loess Hills cCSA share! The amount of cheese in the dish would shock you--cheddar, Monterrey jack, and cottage cheese. But it was very delicious.

The yellow flowers are a variety of coreopsis that grow in the planter in front of our house and I can't remember if I put them there or if they were there before.

So that was my last time making food for and hosting our coffee group! I'm really going to miss the group of people who have been my regular Tuesday group from even before we arrived two years ago! When we visited before our move here, we had coffee with them. I'll always be grateful for their company, hospitality, conversation, and friendship! We will have one more Tuesday with them with another host. It will be hard to say goodbye.
