Only at the Clay County Fair
The Clay County Fair in Spencer, Iowa, is said to be the World's Greatest County Fair! I know a lot of people who would agree, and many people of my acquaintance prefer it to the state fair (which is also great). Jonathan and I made the trip to Spencer to go to the fair for two days this week.
The theme this year is "Only at the Fair." Of course we visited all our favorite spots, which are unique to the fair. Checking out the vegetables (above) and the native plants at the DNR cabin (below) are among those!

The Creative Living Center is home to baking competitions...
...quilts and other textiles and crafts...
...and Floriculture!
Of course we had to enjoy some fair food, and between us we shared fried mac and cheese bites, fried sweet corn nuggets, fried apple pie, Tom Thumb donuts, and a cup of chocolate chip cookies! (Only at the fair!!!)
